Both teams have already booked tickets to the 2025 FIBA U16 Asia Cup in Mongolia this July, but bragging rights as the best in Southeast Asia are still up for grabs.

The Philippines edged Indonesia 77-68 in their group stage meeting, pulling away only in the closing minutes. The game was tight throughout, with just four points separating them late in the match.

Indonesia (4-1) earned another shot at the unbeaten hosts after cruising past Vietnam, 74-51, on Thursday.

Gilas (5-0) also rolled past Malaysia, 95-61, but not without early concerns but head coach LA Tenorio saw areas for improvement despite the dominant win.

Gilas Pilipinas Youth warmed up for the gold medal match by pulling away from Malaysia, 96-61, in the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers on Thursday night at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga. 

The win completed a perfect elimination round campaign for the Philippines (5-0) and gave them some momentum heading into Friday night's gold medal clash against Indonesia, still at the same venue.
